kiddie ride

A coin-operated motorized mildly interactive ride designed to be ridden by young children for amusement. They're commonly designed with the appearance of a colorful animal, vehicle, or popular cartoon character to appeal to children. They're frequently found in places such as amusement parks, arcades, malls, hotel game rooms, outside supermarkets, and large department stores. The most common type are affixed to a base and moves the rider up-and-down and/or side-to-side. There are free movement versions, typically battery operated, that move about similar to a bumper car; predominately found in Asia. Other variants exist, such as miniature carousels or motorized seesaws with a character occupying the seat opposite the rider.

A similar non-motorized device for children called a spring rider can be found in playgrounds.
