The "Calamity from the skies" in Final Fantasy VII, Jenova is an extraterrestrial life-form of an unnamed species that landed on the planet of Gaia two thousand years ago. 30 years before the game begins, Gast Faremis exhumed the dormant alien's remains and named it Jenova, mistaking it for one of the ancient race known as the Cetra. Jenova's cells were eventually used in ShinRa Company's super-soldier program, resulting in the creation of Sephiroth and other SOLDIERs.

Though genderless, Jenova manifests itself as a nude feminine entity with blue or grey skin and long grey hair, with hair parted down the middle and one glowing red eye.
