Shinji Hirako is the leader of the Visored, a group of exiled Shinigami who possess Hollow powers. He is also the former Captain of the Gotei 13's 5th Division.
Laid-back and calm, often with a large grin on his face, he is nonetheless flustered in the face of Hiyori Sarugaki's insults.
17 months after the defeat of Aizen, Shinji is reinstated to his former position as Captain of the 5th Division, in place of Aizen himself.
