One of the three main factions that are playable in Command and Conquer: Generals.
A violent movement and rogue state that serves as the main antagonist in the games' campaign. It is made up of various terrorist groups, revolutionaries, criminal organizations, and other movements opposed to imperialism, united under one banner. The GLA’s stated goal is to oppose the imperialism practiced by the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China, and under the pretense of liberation, it seeks to dominate the world.
Due to its technological disadvantages compared to the two other factions, the GLA has comparatively weak ground vehicles and no air force, prompting it to use guerrilla tactics such as tunneling, suicide bombing, hijacking, and ambushes.
The faction has gained notoriety and controversy for its parallels to Al-Qaeda, especially during the height of the War on Terror.
