In most of his iterations, Gamera is an ancient, prehistoric creature that was either genetically modified or mutated. Thanks to the volatile substances stored within his body, he has the powers of fire breath and jet-propelled flight. In some depictions, he also has telepathy and is capable of sensing human emotions. He most often acts as a guardian, protecting humanity against other monsters.
