In Black Lagoon, Sawyer, also known as Sawyer the Cleaner (掃除屋ソーヤー), is a gothic woman who works part-time for Mr. Chang's Triad, hiring herself out as a cleaner and occasional bounty hunter. Her full name, Frederica Sawyer was revealed in the light novel spinoff. Her job is to dispose of the bodies that are produced when the various syndicates of Roanapur get violent. She uses a custom-modified chainsaw for both cutting up the dead and as her primary weapon, the blade of which can be used as a bulletproof shield. Due to a slashed throat inflicted during her past, Sawyer cannot speak without the use of an Ultravoice. Due to her emotional issues, she's unable to function if she doesn't have it.
