The Mk 46 (Mark 46) light machine gun is the lighter weight variant of the M249 saw produced by FN Herstal, primarily used by the United States special operations forces (SOF) since 2003. It has a four-sided rail system on the heat shield. The MOD 1 variant has a fixed polymer buttstock, while MOD 2 has adjustable telescopic one.
