The FN MAG (Mitrailleuse d'Appui Général) is an open-bolt, gas-operated 7.62×51mm NATO machine gun designed in the early 1950s at FN Herstal by Ernest Vervier. In use by over 80 countries, and manufactured under license in many countries, such as Argentina, Egypt, India, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States (as the M240).
