JRPG developed and published for Famicom/NES by Square, later Square Enix. First of the Final Fantasy series, released 18 December 1987 in Japan and some time in May 1990 in North America. Later released on MSX (1989), WonderSwan Color (2000), PlayStation (2002), Game Boy Advance (2004), PlayStation Portable (2007), Wii (2008), and Apple products (2010).

The game follows the story of four customizable characters as they try to restore the light of the elemental orbs they carry and stop the Four Fiends from wreaking havoc across the world, as a result of the actions of Garland, a rogue knight.
