In early 2023, memes were made about the Ukrainian army putting explosive reactive armor (ERA) on seemingly everything, following deliveries of Leopard 2 tanks from Poland as a part of NATO aid for the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The memes spread to 4chan's /pol/, /k/ and Reddit's r/NonCredibleDefense sub where ERA bricks were used as an exploitable, being edited onto image macros and meme templates along with Ukrainian soldier-coded Flork of Cows characters.

These ERA memes were also called "Cope Bricks" in reference to Copium and Cope Cages.
