Dragon Quest IV is the fourth installment of the Dragon Quest video game series, and the last to appear on the Famicom.

The game is divided into five chapters, each introducing one or more of the main characters and the final chapter gathering them together under the Hero/Heroine's leadership.

The main female characters are Alena, Minea and Manya; there is also the option for a female protagonist. A rarely drawn side character is Lucia, who is a temporary party late in the game. Another is Cynthia, an elf girl who is the Hero/Heroine's childhood friend.

DQ4 introduced the Dancer's Costume and is the only Dragon Quest game to feature the Pink Leotard.

The game has been remade for the Playstation 1, Nintendo DS, and iOS/Android. The DS port is subtitled "Chapters of the Chosen" in English. The remakes also add an optional 6th chapter.
