The CETME Ameli is a 5.56 mm NATO light machine gun of Spanish origin, designed and developed in 1974 by CETME research institute. Ameli is abbreviation of Ametralladora ligera, Spanish for light machine gun. The weapon was adopted by the Spanish Army in 1982 under the designation MG 82. It externally resembles the German MG3.
