"Balus" or ("Balse") is a spell cast in the final scene of Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa. The phrase is a meme among Japanese internet users, who spam the phrase every year during the annual broadcast of the film on Japanese television. During the 2014 broadcast, the phrase was reportedly spammed on Twitter more than 140,000 times per second.
