2024 summer olympics opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France was held on 26 July 2024, and featuring the performances headlined by Celine Dion and Lady Gaga.

However, the ceremony has gained notoriety and criticism for various absurd imagery. Most notably the performance of the French band Gojira which featured the depiction of Marie Antoinette holding her disembodied head, and the section featuring drag queens and a nude singer that was originally meant to reference the Feast of Dionysus but is instead being widely mistaken for a parody of the Last Supper.
