A free-to-play hero-based first-person tactical shooter released by League of Legends developer Riot Games in 2020. The game was highly anticipated leading up to its release, since it is the first major PC game Riot has released since LoL launched in 2009. Valorant quickly shot up to the number one spot on Twitch streaming during its open beta, and has been compared to games such as Overwatch and Apex Legends for its roster of colorful heroes with distinct abilities, as well as Counter-Strike for its objective-based tac-shooter gameplay.
