    大鯨 大鯨(艦隊これくしょん) 大鯨(艦これ)

Kantai Collection's personification of the Japanese submarine tender Taigei. Upon remodel her name changes to Ryuuhou. Character design by Kujou Ichiso, voiced by Ogura Yui.

She has long purple hair with low twintails, feathered hair flaps and an ahoge, as well as red eyes. Her default outfit consists of a white long-sleeved sailor shirt with a blue sailor collar, white apron, blue pleated skirt, black pantyhose, and rudder-themed grey sandals.

Her rigging consists of her funnel and crane to her back, and her real-life bow as a single knee pad on her right.

Attempts to obtain her are unsurprisingly called "Whaling" on account of her name's meaning (lit. "Great Whale"). She was originally built as part of a project to build auxiliary support ships that could be converted to carriers quickly should the need arise. However, she suffered from faulty hull welding, unreliable diesel engine propulsion, and very questionable seakeeping (a flaw common to other treaty-skirting warships of her time). In late 1941, she finally received approval for carrier conversion and was renamed Ryuuhou.
