The protagonist of Gintama. A former rebel samurai who lives in a fictionalized version of 1860s Japan, he makes living as a freelancer for hire in Edo. A bit of a manchild, he serves as an elder brother figure for Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura nonetheless.
