An international department store chain with headquarters in Tokyo.
Since its inception as a kimono store "Echigoya", Mitsukoshi has been adopting innovative business methods, such as the world's first fixed-price cash sales, Japan's first "modern-style" department store, and the collaboration with subculture.
In April 2008, Mitsukoshi and Isetan were merged and to form the Isetan Mitsukoshi group. Besides Japan, it currently has branches in Mainland China, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
