A natural strategist, Amagi is much more level-headed than Akagi, always behaving in a professional manner and being respectful towards the Commander. However, she suffers from coughing fits, a reference to how her keel snapped during her conversion to a carrier in an earthquake, and is highly conscious of her own frail health, which is manifested in the story as a Wisdom Cube with a crack on it.
The historical Amagi was supposed to be the first in a four-ship class of battlecruisers, developed as part of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Eight-Eight Fleet Program. However, construction was halted as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty, before she and Akagi underwent conversion into aircraft carriers. Amagi's conversion, however, was cut short when her keel snapped during the Great Kanto Earthquake, forcing her to be scrapped like her other two sister ships two years later.
A UR reimagination of her is introduced in the 7th anniversary Ode of Everblooming Crimson event in September 2024. In the event story, Amagi completed her fateful conversion to an Amagi-class aircraft carrier, restoring her to full health in the process.
